Position Summary
We are currently looking for an experienced Waste Water Treatment Technician to perform simple chemical and bacteriological analyses relevant to wastewater and production process chemistry including industrial pre-treatment sample analyses. The Waste Water Treatment Technician ensures that pumps, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum and skimming equipment and other waste water treatment equipment are functioning properly. This person monitors equipment for potential failures and make minor repairs or adjustments as needed.
Essential Job Functions
- The Waste Water Treatment Technician will have several Roles and Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
- Will be responsible for collecting water samples for chemical analysis
- Run Test Panel samples as required and analyze results
- Collect and store samples necessary for required wastewater analyses; analyze for contamination using a variety of methods; interpret test results
- Conduct basic chemical tests (e.g., pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen) to monitor water quality
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all wastewater treatment equipment, pumps, valves, and instrumentation
- Record information, results, and procedures on tests run; prepare reports per company, City and State environmental requirements and storm water and sludge management
- Be able to perform and document various tests required by City of Phoenix and State of Arizona agencies for the operation of a wastewater treatment plant
- Monitor plant compliance per City and State treatment regulations; notify management and safety coordinator of any violation of regulations
- Perform quality control tests to ensure analytical precision of laboratory results
- Maintain laboratory and related equipment; maintain records on service, usage, and repairs; order laboratory supplies and equipment
- Conduct laboratory tests for company or government as requested
- Monitor and adjust chemical dosing systems as needed.
- Necessary to know, understand, and perform according to applicable specifications, codes, and ordinances
- Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.
- Conduct the necessary weekend checks of the treatment plant on a rotating basis.
- Maintain open communications with the Plant Manager regarding the treatment process and overall equipment operation and/or malfunctions, as well as make recommendations and assist maintenance techs with repairs and improvements to these systems
- Assist in the performance of regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and machinery
- Perform the installation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant equipment and all of their components
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and existent requests
- Must perform all work in accordance with all applicable safety procedures
- Assist in other areas of need based on Supervisor/Manager discretion
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
