Position Summary:
The Production Manager will manage the production teams and ensure that manufacturing processes are efficient, timely, and meet quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a deep understanding of production management principles. We expect this person to be able to lead by example, work independently and ensure good work attitudes, atmosphere, and communication to maximize productivity. The Production Manager will be required to transmit directions and work instructions to all workers engaged in closely related operations while ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is always maintained. He or She will lead the production departments to ensure they are appropriately staffed, and production documentation is properly conducted. This role involves coordinating with planning, organizing, and supervising production activities, as well as collaborating with different departments to achieve operational efficiency.
The Production Manager will have several Roles and Responsibilities including but not limited to the following: other duties and responsibilities will be as assigned.
Safety:
- Lead by example with a Safety-First mindset in every task
- Direct all production processes and confirm the manufacturing of quality products while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Leads the production team of employees in a technical, fast paced, deadline driven environment that with heighted focus on safety, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Participates and supports safety meeting (s) to help foster continuous improvement and takes actions to improve and reduce safety opportunities.
- Investigate incident, accident, and non-conformity investigations combined with reporting and action closure
Production:
- Partner with MPS (master production scheduler) and planning team
- Planning and establishing work schedules, flow, resources, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals in collaboration with the Director of Manufacturing.
- Responsible for operations functions: All production departments and associated personnel
- Responsible for production departments budget; manages and controls expenditures and variances
- Ensures production staff enforces company policies and procedures, plant wide safety rules, and employee rules of conduct, and core values.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste
- Monitor production, resolve issues, and confirms WOs (work orders) are entered on time and correctly
- Ensure output meets quality standards in collaboration with the QA/QC team
Team Supervision and Leadership:
- Incorporates Company vision and values into day-to-day activities and behaviors; guides and motivates others to remain committed to that philosophy.
- Establishes an environment that is conducive to collaboration and teamwork, promotes positive employee relations and takes steps to prevent or diffuse conflicts
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, terminating, disciplining, and coaching employees
- Enforce EHS (environment, health, safety) procedures and expectations
- Working knowledge of production processes with the ability to “fill-in” “during supervisors’ absences or partnering to meet a deadline in production.
- Responsible for: developing personnel; improving processes; reducing costs; quality monitoring and improvements; new product development and implementation; and on-time product completion without compromising safety.
- Ensure supervisors maintain training matrix and plan for future required employee trainings
- Ensures that the necessary plant SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) are developed and that production employees have been trained to meet plant operations objectives.
- Communicating regularly with Director of Manufacturing regarding problems or issues
- Evaluating machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime
- Liaise with other departments, including planning, sales, shipping, engineering, maintenance, logistics, and inventory, to ensure successful production flow.
- Training all new Production Supervisors and providing them adequate knowledge about the process
- Confirm daily records, documents, KPI’s are maintained, achieved, and posted to Tier Boards.
- Conducts/participates in daily communication/audit meetings with both the departmental and management teams
- Preparing monthly reports and presenting them to the Director of Manufacturing
- Utilization of lean manufacturing techniques, strive to improve YoY and exceed the company targets in productivity, efficiency, and quality on a continuous basis
- Able to work Overtime based on business needs

Required Skills and Abilities:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty efficiently, safely and in an acceptable manner
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, business, or management related field 3+ years in production/manufacturing management, preferably in [aerospace, automotive, contract, metal fabrication)
- Lean manufacturing knowledge, excellent communication, and organization skill
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office & ERP/MRP (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, Oracle, Epicor).
- Ability to review and discuss and analyze results of production reports and financial reports
- Experience with OSHA and safety procedures
- Flexible, assertive, and a team player who is willing to help wherever needed to achieve company goals
- Demonstrate leadership through development of Coordinators/Team Leaders in the area to help drive daily work and long-term improvements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; follow written and/or verbal orders; read, write, speak, and comprehend English
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Capacity to make quality decision and understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving variable in standardized situations
- Regularly lift and/or move objects 20-25 lbs.; occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 50lbs.
- Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment
- Willing to obtain a forklift license through PMI (Phoenix Manufacturing) forklift certification program
